What should I clean my baby’s teeth with?

A small, soft bristled toothbrush is best. Brush your infant’s teeth once before bedtime to get started on great oral hygiene.

When should I take my child in for their first checkup?

A first birthday is a perfect time for a first dentist visit. Dr. Payam will check for any early signs of decay and review with you good dental practices you can follow with your child.

What is the difference between a pediatric dentist and a family dentist?

Pediatric dentists go to 2 or 3 years of additional schooling to specialize in children’s teeth. They are limited to practicing on children, infants through adolescents and they are experts in their field.

How often should I take my child to the dentist?

You should schedule a checkup every 6 months. This ensures any problems are caught early on. Dr. Payam will advise you if you need to come more or less often based on your personal situation.

Teen Dentistry

As teens are growing up there are important aspects to consider with their teeth in order to keep them healthy and safe.  Two specifically are orthodontics and the use of athletic mouth guards if they participate in sports.  Orthodontics can correct teeth that are crooked and misaligned to prevent further dental issues in the future.  Dr. Payam can help advise you and your teen on the best orthodontic options to fix any problems.

If a sport can be considered a “contact” sport, then all participants should and often must wear a mouth guard.  Dr. Payam is able to provide a special athletic mouth guard that is customized with a mold to perfectly fit the athletes mouth.  It is a much higher quality and will provide more protection than a store bought mouth guard. Emergency Situations

Accidents happen regardless of how careful people are and teeth can get damaged or broken. These emergency situations often require immediate care and Dr. Payam is here to help.  Our office does its best to help in emergency situations as quickly as possible.  Some of the common accidents that we assist with are:

Digital X-Rays

We also offer digital x-rays in order to get a better look at your child’s teeth.  Our digital x-ray machine does not require those uncomfortable bite-wings so the process is nice and easy.  These x-rays can identify potential problems or issues with a child’s teeth or teeth development.  It is an extremely useful machine for us to provide the best care to our patients.
